Windows lets you customize the colors for almost every element. You can change the desktop background color, start menu, taskbar, and application windows. You can also set a “Light” and “Dark” mode, just like most mobile devices. Overall, the look and feel of Windows is very customizable. So, let’s take a quick look at how to change accent colors in Windows, along with some additional settings.

Lesson Wrap Up

While you can change the desktop background colors, there are other colors in Windows you can change to make it your own. Some may want to customize it to match the colors of a room or their company brand.

As a passionate auto racing enthusiast, I have my PC’s colors set to match my favorite race teams. And yes, it might be a bit nerdy, but it’s my PC to do with as I will. LOL!

If you’re not sure where to start, consider applying an entire Windows theme and then tweaking it from there. See our guide on how to change themes in Windows 11. Plus, there are hundreds available for FREE to download from the Microsoft Store.

Also, many of these steps apply to Windows 10; although the window layouts will look slightly different, all the same options are available.
